Sam, i love this, what a cool idea, and one very lucky daughter. My grandad used to tell us stories when we were small, as we walked in the woods of wee tree folk. Each year they got bigger & better, the same stories but with more & more details. I can still remember them today.

About the Lunch Note Project

The whole thing started because my daughter likes me to write notes to put in her lunch bag, and I found out I was terrible at it. I could only think of so many ways to write “Have a good day at school!” or “Enjoy your lunch!” without ending up writing the same note every day.

So it occurred to me, that if I wrote a story, the note would have to be different every day. And, since I work as an illustrator and can’t do anything – anything – without scanning it in, I decided to put these up here.

After quite some time, her story came to an end. And then her younger brother said, "Can I have a story too? With lizards? And ninjas? And swords that fly by themselves?"

So I said yes.
