Wanted to do another fully rendered page (as opposed to quick pics on notebook paper) before the story came to a close, and this seemed like a good place to do it. My daughter was genuinely sad when the kids got left behind! Although when they were being consoled by hippogryphs, she could guess what the kids might do. So it was all the more reason to make it big when they did.

It seems like I've got a bit of a Jack Kirby vibe going on here with the Monster King. Not the rendering, of course, but the pose looks a little like one of his villains coming right atchya.

School's back in session, and so are the Lunch Notes.
The story left off right when it took over from me as the writer. I had originally planned this sequence to be one where the Monster King fell in love with Cecilia, and demanded that she be his bride. She'd escape from the castle, of course, but somehow it felt all wrong (also, hackneyed, but that realization came later).
What happened was that I realized that a creature like the King would not be in any way influenced by finer emotions. But rage, jealousy, paranoia? Definitely his style. So his character ended up making me change my own story.
