Not that it wasn't obvious by this time, but I promised I'd get to "them" around page 47.

And now, the Special Bonus Section:

The Work Note Project

Wanting to return the favor, my daughter decided that she would write me a lunch story (it's times like this that makes me feel like we might be doing something right with this parenting thing. Or something write, at the least). Every time she writes for me, I'll post hers as well. Here's page 1:

Winter Break

I'm a little late out of the gate on this one (since it's the last day of the break), but the story has been off this week because school has been off as well. But both will start again on Monday. Also next week – a new bonus section!

My daughter's feeling a lot better today! I'm glad it was a quick bug. So it was back to school, and back to taking lunch.

Out Sick

Unfortunately, my daughter was too sick to go to school today. So the story will be on hold until she's well enough to go back (and go back to taking lunch). Hopefully soon, for her sake – and for mine, as a concerned parent!

This one was a lot of fun. I'm sure I put more into this than any of the other ones, if only because I broke out the white watercolor for highlights. Even my daughter noticed that last part, which the art parent in me was happy to hear!

This is why I like this character. Despite his chronic somnambulism, he's the guy you want around if monsters ever pop up behind you.

This is one of the pages I was just waiting to draw. Spent quite a bit of time on it, for a notebook page at least. It was only after I had finished that I realized that I had to draw that many legs on these guys every time they showed up after this. I'd probably still have done it the same way, but monster slugs would have been a lot quicker. Or evil spheres.

We've come to one of my favorite characters in the story. Fun to write, especially. I may be the only one who feels this way about him, though, so I'll be interested in what my daughter (and anyone who follows this) thinks.
