Originally, he was supposed to be a walrus. Then (fortunately) at the last second I looked it up just to be sure, and found out that leopard seals are the ones that eat penguins. Turns out walruses (walrusi? If not it should be) don't eat them because they don't live where penguins do. Yay research!
